The cabinet today approved the purchase of 83 light combat aircraft Tejas. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. These aircraft will be manufactured by HAL and other private sector companies under the Make in India campaign. This whole deal is worth 48 thousand crores.

What is the specialty of Tejas?

Due to its low weight, the jet is considered quite agile. With the help of this deal, the Indian Air Force will also be able to deal with the lack of fighter plane. LCA is currently deployed close to the border of Pakistan.
