India is promoting Hindi language abroad , given 800,000 USD for the use of Hindi in the UN

India has contributed US$800,000 to the United Nations as part of an initiative to increase the organization’s public outreach in Hindi.

The country’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, R Ravindra, handed over a check to a United Nations project launched by India in 2018 to disseminate information about the United Nations to the Hindi-speaking population across the world.

India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations tweeted, “India contributes $800,000 to promote #Hindi@UN.” The Indian Mission said that the Government of India is making continuous efforts to increase the use of Hindi in the United Nations.

India has been partnering with the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC) since 2018 to provide extra-budgetary contributions to mainstream and consolidate DGC’s news and multimedia content in Hindi.

Since 2018, UN News in Hindi is broadcast through the United Nations website and social media handles and the UN Facebook Hindi page, the statement further read.
