Corona virus-infected RSP candidate died

Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) candidate Pradeep Kumar Nandi, who was infected with Covid-19 four days ago, died in a hospital here on Friday. An official of the Health Department gave this information. He told that 73-year-old Nandi was the party’s candidate from Jangipur assembly constituency in Murshidabad district, who was quarantined in his house due to infection, in the West Bengal assembly elections.

After the condition worsened, he was taken to a hospital in Berhampur on Thursday night. The officer said that he had several other ailments and died in the hospital at around six in the evening. Congress candidate Rezaul Haq from Shamsherganj assembly constituency found infected with Covid-19 also died in a hospital in Kolkata on Thursday.

Election Commission issued new guidelines

In view of the increase in Corona cases in Bengal, after the all-party meeting, the Election Commission has reduced the period of campaigning in the remaining phases of the assembly elections in West Bengal. The Election Commission has said that the election campaign time has been limited to 7 pm. There will be no election campaign from 7 pm to 10 am.

In the same way, the period of stopping the noise of the campaign before the polling has also been increased from 48 hours to 72 hours. That is, now the campaign will stop three days before the voting. The new rules will apply in the three phases of voting that remain after the Saturday assembly elections in Bengal. With this, all political parties have been asked to present a better example to the public and also follow the Corona Guidelines themselves.

Strict action against political parties for violations

All the magistrates and police officers of the state along with the political parties are clearly instructed by the Election Commission to follow the rules of Covid at all costs. If any political party or any leader violates the rules, then the administration of the district will have the right to cancel the meeting or rally, road show and campaign.
