Development of Artificial Intelligence

This technology was officially named Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the year 1955 by John McCarthy. John McCarthy was an American computer scientist, he defined AI to make machines smart, but its importance was recognized in the 1970s. Japan first took its initiative and started the 5th Generation Scheme in 1981.

It outlined a 10-year program, and the plan was based on the development of super-computers. Then other countries also paid attention to this. Britain also created a project named ‘Elvy’ for this. In 1983, some private institutions came together to establish ‘Micro-Electronics and Computer Technology’.

It was a consortium to develop technologies applied to artificial intelligence, such as Very Large Scale Integrated Circuits. Niti Aayog has estimated that further boost in adoption of AI is likely to boost India’s GDP to $957 billion by 2035 as well as 1.3 per cent of the annual growth rate.

There are four types of Artificial Intelligence

 

Reactive Machines: This is the oldest form of AI system. Older data cannot be stored and does not use past experiences to make decisions. It responds by storing only limited data.

Limited Memory: – Artificial intelligence of this form stores data of the past. It uses old data and tells about the activities that will take place in the future. It is even capable of learning and making decisions on its own.

Theory of Mind: This type of AI has reached the limits of the human brain by machines. At present, many machines are working as voice assistants. At present, work on this type is going on.

Self-conscious: This form of Artificial Intelligence is currently being worked on. Scientists say that after the arrival of this, robots will be able to know like humans what their existence is. And after that there will be no difference between humans and machines.
