Pancreas is known as Pancreatic Gland in Hindi. It is an important part of our digestive system. This gland, about six inches long, is made up of many cells. It is located between the stomach, small intestine, liver, spleen and gall bladder. It is tightly clamped between the stomach and the spinal cord. Pancreatic cancer can also be genetic. Meaning it can come from family to children. Smoking, alcohol, eating more red meat and processed meat, or obesity can be the cause.
The pancreas is shaped like a long pear, with one end wide and the other narrow. The wide end is called the head and the narrow end is called the tail. The middle part is called neck and body. The two very important mesenteric arteries of the body and the mesenteric vein pass through a part of the pancreas. The pancreas has two functions. The first is to digest food and the second is to control blood sugar.
Symptoms of pancreatic cancer
The symptoms of pancreatic cancer are very common. As such, they are not even taken into account. As pancreatic cancer progresses, bleeding can occur from many parts of the body. Blood clots begin to form. If someone has this cancer, then blood clots start appearing in his leg and this can be the first symptom of pancreatic cancer. Then, such as pain in the stomach or back, loss of weight, if such symptoms are seen continuously, then it can be a sign of pancreatic cancer.
How pancreas works
When food reaches the stomach, an enzyme is produced in the pancreas. This is called pancreatic juice. It helps in digestion. Apart from this, the pancreas also produces two hormones insulin and glucagon. It mixes with the blood and reaches other parts of the body. Insulin lowers the blood sugar level while glucagon raises the blood sugar level. Together, these two maintain the balance of blood sugar level in the body.
