Bilawal Bhutto visits India, but Pakistan is troubled by ‘Jaishankar missile’

New Delhi: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should not expect a red carpet welcome in Goa as the relationship between India and Pakistan is not like that. Bilawal has come to India, but former Pakistani diplomats are worried about it. Yes, they are anxious about the Modi government’s ‘Missile Minister’ S. Jaishankar. Expressing concern in a debate, Ambassador Tariq Zameer said that India has made full preparations to humiliate Pakistan on the international forum. Several former diplomats have expressed apprehension that India’s External Affairs Minister Jaishankar may tell Pakistan the truth at an international meeting in Goa. And Bilawal sitting in front of him will have to listen to everything. Maleeha Lodhi even said that Bilawal’s visit to India will not melt the ice on the relationship. In such a situation, it can be understood that the atmosphere of ‘Goa Wale Beach’ can remain hot for two days. No, this is not a weather forecast, but the atmosphere can remain like this with the foreign ministers of Pakistan, China and SCO reaching South Goa. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (34), who spewed venom on Kashmir, has arrived in India today. He had also released a video before leaving Pakistan. Around 12 noon, his plane took off from Karachi for Goa and around 2.30 pm he was seen leaving the Goa airport.

 

Bilawal will attend the SCO Meeting

 

The two-day meeting of SCO(Sanghai Cooperation Organization) foreign ministers begins today at a plush beach resort in Goa. Although the main discussion will be held tomorrow, today External Affairs Minister Jaishankar will hold bilateral discussions with his counterparts from China and Russia. It is important to mention here that India is giving cold shoulder treatment to Bilawal’s visit. If the sources close to the External Affairs Department are to be believed, the chance is very thin that there will be any bilateral meeting between External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and Bilawal Bhutto. Importantly, Bilawal’s visit to India comes days after militants attacked an army truck in Poonch. Five soldiers were killed in the attack.

 

Last Visit of an External Affairs Minister

 

Earlier, Hina Rabbani Khar had visited India in 2011, when SM Krishna was the External Affairs Minister. This is the first visit by a Pakistani foreign minister. Khar is currently the Minister of State for External Affairs. This is the first high-level delegation from Pakistan to visit India after Pakistan’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in December 2016.

In an interview given to an Indian channel, Hina Rabbani Khar said that Bilawal’s visit is not an India tour. This is an SCO visit. In fact, given the financial condition of Pakistan, Bilawal’s visit is being seen as a compulsion to improve relations. However, Hina said that we are not talking about bilateral matters. In no way should it be seen as a bilateral visit. It is the same way one goes to UNGA (United Nations General Assembly).

 

When Hina had come to India, the relationship between the two countries were getting better but today the situation has come upside dowm. In such a situation, the question arises whether Bilawal’s visit to India will have any effect on relations? Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s former ambassador to the US, told the BBC that Bilawal Bhutto’s visit was showing no signs of a warming in relations between India and Pakistan. Yes, some experts are saying that this can definitely be an initiative to promote peace. Anyway, the situation in Pakistan is not good. He is surrounded by challenges from all sides.

 

Deteriorating Indo-Pak Relationship

 

Relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated significantly after the Pulwama terror attack in February 2019. After this, the Indian Army gave a befitting reply by conducting Balakot air strike. Relations between India and Pakistan have not improved again. This is the first visit by a Pakistani leader since 2014 when former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attended the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India. After the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019, the relations between the two countries worsened instead of improving.

 

The SCO was founded in Shanghai in 2001. The group comprises China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. India and Pakistan became permanent members of the SCO in 2017.

 

Who is Bilawal Bhutto?

 

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is a Pakistani politician, philanthropist, and the current chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
