DNA With Sudhir Chaudhary: Now DNA will have a special report for those people who feel that they are under workload. Often you will hear people saying that the work is too much, due to which they have to stay in their office till late at night. From these things it seems that the working time is kind of endless. In today’s era, the work has become so much that it does not even take the name of ending. But 60 big UK companies have started a new experiment from June 1, under which employees there will have to work only four days a week. This concept is also called Four Day Work Week.

Why this experiment is being done?

This is the biggest such experiment in the world, as it will involve 3,000 employees of 60 companies and these people will have to work only four days a week. And these employees will have leave for three days. This experiment is being done to increase the productivity of these employees. Apart from Britain, such trials can also start in Australia and New Zealand from the month of August. That is, at this time the world is searching for a new type of work life balance.

5 Day Work came in 1962

Americans today work only 34 hours a week. But this was not the case 150 years ago. In the middle of the 19th century, Americans worked 100 hours a week. But as time changed, industrialization expanded and new technology came, the working hours started decreasing. In the year 1926, the founder of the Ford company, Henry Ford first came up with the concept of Five Day Work Week, under which employees worked Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday were their holidays.

The results were shocking

This concept is going on in India even today. Although at that time the world criticized Henry Ford and said that getting two holidays a week would make employees lazy. But when its results came, the whole world was shocked. Henry Ford told the world at that time that even after taking two holidays a week, his employees were working as much as they used to take one day off in the week.

increased profit of the company

Apart from this, it also came to the fore that this has increased the productivity of the employees, they have become happy and the profits of the company have also increased. And since this research, there has been a debate at different times in the world about how many hours a week humans should work. Most of the studies say that if the working hours in the week are more then the productivity of the employees decreases. That is, they work more hours but the productivity of this work is not high. At present, the countries which have less working hours, those countries are at the top in terms of productivity.

These countries have very short working hours

People in Norway work only 27 hours a week. But in terms of productivity, these people are far ahead of other countries of the world. In simple words, the amount of work that the people of Norway do in 27 hours a week, the people of countries like India and Pakistan are not able to do even 40 hours of the week. Similarly, Germany, France, Denmark and Netherlands are counted in countries where people work less than 30 hours a week. But in terms of productivity, they come in the top ten countries of the world.

Less work in more time?

On the other hand, in countries where people work more, the production capacity of the people is very less. People in Japan work 33 hours a week. Whereas it is about 41 hours in India, 42 hours in China, 45 hours in Singapore, 46 and a half hours in Bangladesh and 47 hours in a week in Myanmar. And research says that people in these countries work more hours but their production capacity is very less. And the people of these countries feel themselves more tired during work. And that is why now the concept of Four Day Week is being implemented all over the world.

Discussion is happening in India too

However, many of you must be thinking that even after working four days in a week, they will get the same salary as they get after doing 5 or 6 days. So the answer is probably not. UK companies have announced that they will review the salaries of their employees and it is possible that they can reduce their salary if they take three days off in a week. Apart from this, it is also being considered in our country. Last year, the Ministry of Labor of India had told that it is working on this concept. But in India, if arrangements are made for four days of work and three days of leave in a week, then the working hours of the employees will be increased and their salary will also be reduced.
